Yesterday was awesome. Plastic Passion and I went to the Cubs game. My idea of a perfect Saturday. It was my first game of the season, and I dove head first into Old Style, hot dogs and nachos. I officially have a baseball crush on Kosuke Fukudome, our new rightfielder. He's my new favorite player. I was in nirvana.
Afterwards came the obligatory Wrigleyville souvenir trek and bar hopping. The coolest thing happened to me at one bar we met up with her co-worker at. I'm standing in line to use the ATM which is by the women's restroom. A slightly cute but very trashed guy walks up to me and asks me if he can use the women's room since the line for the guy's is too long. I told him I didn't care, and he offered me $100 bucks to cover the door. I couldn't give a shit if he used it, so I told him to show me the money. Out popped and balled up $100 bill. Out of nowehere he smacks the c-note in my hand, tells me to hold it, and walks into the bathroom. A girl walks out of the bathroom and turns him into bar staff who promptly kicked him out of the bar. I'm standing there holding the dough in disbelief, and I move as far back into the bar as I can thinking he's going to remember and want the dough back. Nope. He and his friends walk off and I'm $100 richer. Sweet. The irony is that when he handed me the dough and walked off I half jokingly told Plastic Passion that we should leave. If he's too drunk and stupid to realize what he did, he deserves it. She talked me out of it, and good karma came my way.
Oh yeah - and the Cubs won 13-1. Life was good.
What do you love about where you live?

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways:
- the Cubs and Wrigley Field: I can't even begin to recount the amazing memories I have of my dad and I at games, especially the ones where I got to meet Ryne Sandburg, Billy Williams, Ron Santo, Bill Buckner, and Mr. Cub Ernie Banks
- the architecture: some of the most beautiful buildings are here, and Chicago is one of the original homes of the skyscraper, if not the very first before New York. I love the modern architecture too. Whenever I'm flying home and I look out the window to see the famous skyline over Lake Michigan I know I'm home.
- the people: I love the "beat" of the people and the warm nature. I've travelled to a lot of different countries, cities and cultures, and love the way Chicagoans make you feel welcome.
- the food: What can I say? Great thin crust pizza that isn't a ton of grease on a piece of folded cardboard or baked onto some pita bread with bree and grilled chicken (yuck) and the hot dogs of course. On top of that, you have the neighborhoods where the immigrants came and set up home and new lives, opened restaurants, and produce some of the best ethnic food ever outside of their native countries. Little Italy, Chinatown, Little India, Koreatown, the small Mexican and Puerto Rican hangouts, you name it.
- the culture: theater, music, film, art, design, everything.
I absolutely LOVE this. As a Cubs and Red Sox fan I think this is awesome. I only wish a Cubs fan/construction worker on the new White Sox stadium years back had done the same thing.
A mason working on the new Yankees stadium buried a Red Sox jersey in cement under what they think is the visitor's locker room, but the guy won't disclose the exact location. Bravo!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice day. But hell if I didn't get reamed a new asshole because of my adrenaline-fueled late night visit to tell Jim to go fuck himself. Everyone says I was "stupid" (the most widely used term). I have no regrets because I stuck up for myself. Am I missing something? Was it really that stupid and I don't see it?
Last night aside, tonight is good. Pretty good. Worked a little late, picked up some champagne, and as tradition calls for, put up the Charlie Brown Christmas Tree. I debated - to tree, or not to tree - but decided to tree because I didn't do one last year. I was in Warsaw and Madrid last year and I had no time to put it up. Plus, it kinda became a "thing" with Richard and I. Bite him. Tree I did. Every year I put it up on what was my parents' wedding anniversary (they're both gone now, so I keep the tradition alive). Each year they picked up a bottle of champagne and dug out the decorations. I also got to break out some cool ornaments I bought in the last two years. It sounds girly lame, but a few years back one of my friends introduced me to the female practice of buying ornaments from cities I've visited. So now, any time I travel for work or play I shop for an ornament that says the location. Geeky, I know. But I do have some cool ornaments. My tree is like my own little Xmas Rand McNally map/scrapbook. Even lamer, I am attaching photos of my favorite ones. The Cubs one reflects my baseball passion. :) Forgive me. Remember: Buy the ticket, take the ride.
A couple good episodes of South Park, a Christopher Guest movie (Best in Show), pasta and my favorite robe round out the night. And no phone calls from the idiot!!! Ahhhhhhh (huge grin).
Now I get to start prepping for next week's road trip. What's a single girl with no man, no family to do for Xmas? Hit the road for the East coast with two guys. Next Saturday I'm off to Connecticut, Boston and NYC with one of my best buds, Chris, and his friend Jay. We're spending the holiday with Chris' family and then hitting the other cities. I am super excited about Boston because I've been dying to go for years. I hate long road trips though, and I'm going to be stuck listening to the Grateful Dead half the time. We bargained. 50% Grateful Dead, 50% of my iPod variety, including Jennifer Lopez, dance and latin. Ha! Suffer they will. Slightly. Maybe I'll throw some Meat Loaf in. I love Meat, and the guys hate it. (Evil maniacal laugh!!!!!!!). And no - Goober and Skippy - no nookie! This is a nookie-less trip, even with hotel rooms and the fact that Jay is really hot in an Ami James/Miami Ink way. He's totally off limits because he dated Chris' sister (who is really cool and I like a lot). Although, I've been a very good little girl this year................
